Concert and gratitude!

Hello, our lovely fans!

Our spring concert is THIS Sunday, 7PM in the Red Lion Cafe on College Avenue!

HOWEVER, we have a brand-new addition to our pre-concert warm-up; at 4PM we will be hosting our DT CARNIVAL as our pre-concert reception for our beautiful Kickstarter Donors!!!

We were able to make it to and FAR BEYOND our goal of $1500 with YOUR help! So if you are one of those beautiful people, come on out for your free admission to both the carnival and concert! Not a donor? No problem! For $10, you can admit yourself to both the concert AND the carnival — where there will be plenty of GAMES to play for PRIZES, including coupons to local eateries and two hours worth of a party at the RutgersZone on Livingston campus, and FREE FOOD!

APRIL 29th, 4P carnival, 7P concert! We will be debuting a few new arrangements as well as our CD material, due out early summer! Click here for more info!

In addition, be on the lookout for DT AUDITIONS! We’re lookin’ for the chillest & the most excited singer and VP-ers to add to our dynamic group. Those will be this coming Tuesday, May 1! DT Auditions @ Scott Hall!

Updates!

Friends! Our apologies for that short hiatus! Many of us have had a few different shows we have been involved in, as well as Rutgers’ Spring Break last week.

Since we’ve already made our CD back in January (YAY!) we are still tryin’ to make money to help distribute it to our LOVELY FANS (you guys!). We have now launched our kickstarter and are ALMOST TO OUR GOAL! Now we just need our friends’ (YOU AGAIN!) help to get us over the hump! Check the site here and click on the video for more information! Even the smallest donations allows access to our pre-concert donor reception, on the night of our concert, April 29th! :)

In upcoming news, this weekend the ICCAs Semi-Finals will be hosted RIGHT HERE at RUTGERS, and WE will be hosting! How exciting!!

We’ll be cheering on our brethren of the all-male a Cappella group, Casual Harmony, as they compete to move on to the finals! For more details, check out Varsity Vocals’ site right here!

Click the title link, that’s DT’s new KICKSTARTER PROGRAM!

In January, each member of DT locked themselves in a room for a few hours, a few days at a time, and recorded a WONDERFUL CD of our most recent rep. We haven’t recorded in over five years!

While it has been mostly edited and we have a few cuts of the unedited, we are currently looking to garner enough funds to make our CD into the real deal; get it mastered, duplicated, etc.!

We are asking the public to help us reach a goal of $1,500. For every amount you give, from $1-400, you get an interesting reward to choose from! We have things such as requesting ANY song to be arranged and sung at our Spring concert April 29th, karaoke with a DT song of your choice at the concert, signed copies of the CD, all the way through the group dressing in pretty ridiculous ways at that same concert.

All donors are invited to our awesome pre-concert reception that same day, Sunday, April 29th, where we will have raffles, games, etc.! It will be a good time for anyone who has helped us create something wonderful together to give our music to the community.

Should we NOT reach our goal, the money will not be funded to us, and essentially given back in full.

PLEASE HELP US REACH THIS GOAL! If not JUST for us and for your love of music and a Cappella, but for the awesome rewards! :)

We had a lovely time this past Saturday at the ICCAs!!! Congratulations to all the groups that competed, specifically those that placed and advanced!!
We would like to ESPECIALLY congratulate our own Tyler Picone for achieving the Outstanding Soloist award for the SECOND year in a row (!!! :D), as well as RU Shockwave’s AMAZING Vocal Percussionist, Arabelle, for winning Outstanding VP!
DT had a SUPER amount of fun performing our set of Jessie J’s “Price Tag” mashed with “Where is the Love,” which featured our Katie & Angelina on vocals, and Cody on the mashed-up rap, “Falling Slowly,” a gorgeous song from the movie Once, which featured Amanda and Jeff on the heartwarming duet, and our finale, “Beautiful Child,” which showcased our incomparable Tyler Picone on vocals. Each was choreographed by our own members, between Katie, Lina, and Tyler on the opener and closer, and our MD, Galadriel, for “Falling Slowly.” Videos to follow shortly!!
The group like to thank all ICCA judges, producers, sound mixers, and our incredible hosts, the Orphansporks, for such a lovely day.
Next up for DT is this Saturday — we will perform a short gig for a tribute to one Martin Luther King, Jr.! Keep it locked right here!

TODAY!

Less than ONE DAY left until ICCAs!! While one can only hope we will be able to update throughout the day, one never knows what [competition] life will throw at you!

We are SO pumped for tomorrow, and have been spending time together to get a little stress-relief in! We made some BEAUTIFUL shirts, many done by our lovely Alto II, Amanda, as well as Eric, and Angelina! If you see us around campus or at the competition before or after, ask for our new shirts, we’ll proudly show ‘em off! :)

We want to wish some huge BREAK-A-LEGS!!! to our visiting and home-team competitors, ranging from Philly to RU’s own Shockwave! We’re so excited to share the stage with such an amazing amount of talent.

Just as one more reminder, tickets can be found here, you can check us (DT) out here, Shockwave here, Varsity Vocals here (for more info on the show and the groups!), and our hosts, Orphansporks here!

BREAK LEGS, ALL!! We’re so excited! :) SUPPORT COLLEGE AND RU a CAPPELLA!

Just Two (2(

^^ ONLY THAT MANY DAYS LEFT UNTIL ICCAs! We’re all so pumped, we’re getting in our last few rehearsals between today and Saturday, and still trying to work in a little fun!

This weekend will be filled with an incredible amount of soulful arrangement, rockin’ choreo, and just plain ol’ fun in song! Once again, head over to our Facebook or to Varsity Vocals’ website for more information about this Saturday, and go ahead! SUPPORT RU a CAPPELLA! Ticketing information can be found here!

As we’ve said, our brotherly all-male group, Casual Harmony, already won last week’s Quarters at SUNY Binghamton, and we will be competing with RU’s very own lovely ladies of song, Shockwave on Saturday. The event is to be hosted by another of RU’s beautiful, talented co-ed a Cappella group, Orphansporks!

Between now and then, DT will also be working in a little fun; the girls will be doing their nails up right in red & black (keep your eyes peeled at the competition for any fancy ones!), probably accompanied by the boys and pizza! We’ll take plenty of pictures during rehearsal as well as when we debut our new, handmade t-shirts, so keep it locked right here!

We would LOVE to see anyone and everyone be there this Saturday. Come support! :)

3 Days!

Until the ICCAs Quarterfinals, that is! If you have not decided to come see a bunch of awesome a Cappella groups from all over the area compete, then you should head over to the RU a Cappella Youtube to see the BEST of our sets, Shockwave’s sets, our hosts’ Orphansporks’ sets, and last week’s SUNY Binghamton winners, Casual Harmony’s sets!

Remember to check our Facebook to find out more about the event (entitled ICCAs Mid-Atlantic Quarterfinals @ Rutgers University — hey, that’s here! :D) and to find out more about our lovely group.

In preparation, we’ve had a few workshopping session with our esteemed past members/musical directors, as well as our extremely talented and enthusiastic theater friends!

Here’s a picture of us last night with one of our incredible “prelim. judges,” the incomparable past member, Wayne Scheck! He had to Skype in all the way from Minneapolis after being transferred there for a brand new, swanky job at Target HQ.

We’re all so excited for ICCAs, we just can’t STOP rehearsing! :)

Speaking of Quarterfinals… (who was?)
